My Cultivation

the grass isn't greener on the other side, it's greener where you water it, and if it is in fact on the other side, it's probably fake. you had the soil, fertilizer, water and tools, but most importantly, you had the time and the opportunity to put as much effort into me as i did you, but you didn't. on the contrary, you filled me with a fake love and of course i, a fool, obliged to your actions. i planted gardens filled with love in you and watered it daily for your benefit, with the tears you always left me with.
nevertheless, i've been growing. slowly but surely i've been cultivating my own garden and have been learning to be content with it. i used to be obsessed with the idea of you but now the thought of you makes me ill. i went from depicting you as a delicate juliet rose in my mind, to coming to the realization that you're just a weed in my struggling garden, suffocating me and my growth and like a weed you came to destroy.
don't crawl back when i'm fully flourished with lilies and daffodils and everything in between. i'm shifting myself into something breathtaking, something that'll be for all to see.
